Fast radio bursts are bright and broadband taking a large range of frequencies. They usually take no more than a few milliseconds. The signals are enough strong to stand out between white noises the burst is like a spike which appears for a few milliseconds. The source of these bursts varies, and they come from all over the milky way.
Parkes radio telescope detected 16 more FRB.s 2010. Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) has implemented a kind of AI which can detect these bursts. This makes the detection of the FRBs much efficient. Often these signals were detected from a distance of around 3 billion light years away.
Below you can see 1 light day in kilometer i.e. the distance the light can travel in one day.
It is hard to imagine how far distance light could travel I 3 billion years in kilometers.
It is unclear what is the source of FRBs, but ET fan claim that these signals are from Extra-terrestrials who are trying to contact us.
What is so amazing with this signal is the power it is required to generate these signals. You would need 500 times our sun power to generate the FRB which was detected in 2007. (ScienceAlert,)
Until now 21 FRBs has been detected. But one of these is more interesting than others. Usually, FRB is a one-time burst but FRB 121102 which was discovered 2017 is repeating itself. This
It would be a wrong of me if I didn’t mention a signal called “wow signal”. This signal was strong narrowband signal which suggest an artificial origin. It lasted 72 second which was discovered by Astronomer Jerry R. Ehman. Since then many hypotheses has been issued regarding this signal which included a natural source for the signal. None of these has been accepted widely.
